JOIN OUR NATIONAL AWARENESS DRIVE TO CONNECT WITH MPs
NASK families are working with other community support groups across Canada to contact MPs and raise awareness of anaphylaxis with decision makers on Parliament Hill and within the federal bureaucracy. You can help by connecting with your MP!
Here is the latest on our awareness drive - and read below on how you can assist by contacting your Member of Parliament, Ministers and the Prime Minister.
You can help us urge the Federal Government to act now!
On June 7, 2010, NASK was very pleased to see Niagara area Member of Parliament Dean Allison introduce a motion in the House of Commons to move the federal government to consider a coordinated, comprehensive response to anaphylaxis. The MP’s motion reads:
That in the opinion of the House, anaphylaxis is a serious concern for an increasing number of Canadians and the government should take the appropriate measures necessary to ensure these Canadians are able to maintain a high quality of life.
NASK is supportive of raising awareness and having the government plan for reducing the risk of unnecessary and preventable anaphylactic attacks. (Read NASK press release of June 7th )
You can help make a difference. Contact your Member of Parliament this summer and let her/him know of the anaphylaxis motion.
- Phone, write and/or arrange a meeting to talk to your local MP. (Here’s a list of MPs and their contact information)
- Put your thoughts down in a letter to your MP (Here’s a suggested letter for you to use)
- Write a similar letter to the Prime Minister, and Ministers of Health and Transport (Here are the letters NASK has written to the PM and Ministers.)
So that we can share information and feedback from MPs, be sure to let us know of your actions - and of any replies. If you need further information, do not hesitate to connect with us. To share information and/or ask questions, contact nask.niagara@gmail.com
